This is Rosler's first suite of street photographs in black and white, made in New York when she was twenty. They show the early influence of an approach to picturing city streets that we associate with Paul Strand, Walker Evans, Helen Levitt, Sid Grossman, Morris Engel, and the members of the Photo League, with touches of the dry humor as well as a strong feeling for the everyday lives of working people.
